Adidas Originals and Drama Call hop on board to launch a Superstar 2, inspired by the Manchester Metrolink

Adidas Originals has teamed up with Manchester cult-favourite streetwear brand, Drama Call, to unveil a unique remix of the iconic Superstar 2. This collaboration brings a touch of Mancunian magic to the classic silhouette, drawing inspiration from the city’s beloved Metrolink trams.

The Superstar 2 Drama features striking teal accents that celebrate local pride, whilst expertly blending Drama Call’s cheeky style with Adidas’ timeless aesthetic. The distinctive colour scheme pays homage to the original Manchester Metrolink tram, creating a trainer that is as much about cultural heritage as it is about fashion.

This collaboration marks just the beginning of a multi-phase partnership between Adidas Originals and Drama Call. Following their successful 2023 jersey partnership with Manchester United FC, the Superstar2 Drama elevates the beloved shell-toe design infusing it with Drama Call signature boldness from heel tab to tongue sole and even a silver hangtag. The star emblem features prominently throughout the design, shining brilliantly between the Adidas iconic 3 stripes.

This partnershipbetween Adidas Originals and Drama Call demonstrates the true power of collaboration. Adidas explained that “born from our shared love and deep-rooted heritage with British culture the Superstar2 Drama expertly blends the best of Drama Call with an icon Adidas original design adding even more stars to our shell toe for 2025.”

Charlie Bows, Drama Call’s founder, shared his thoughts on the collaboration. “We wanted to do our city justice and pay homage to the place that has grown and sculpted us, so we placed the map of Manchester on the undersole of the shoe allowing your feet to always be rooted in the city, no matter where you are in the world. I think its always important to remember where you come from and what makes you who you are today.”

The launch coincides with the Head North campaign, which celebrates both brands’ deep Manchester roots. The promotional film humorously features a nonsense Mancunian parking attendant issuing a fine to a smug businessman parked on freshly painted triple yellow lines, a nod to the fact that Manchester is the true home of the Adidas three stripes. No one parks on their turf without consequences!
