Every sneakerhead knows the experimental approach that Jordan Brand adopts when it comes to the AJ1 Mid trim, Michael Jordan’s first signature silhouette, as the sneaker has played a historical role in the presentation of some daring and off-the-wall colourways over the years. One of his iconic designs sports a canvas base with a paint-splatter ensemble, and is certainly a colourway we’re keeping a close eye on.
Here’s the lowdown on the Air Jordan 1 Mid ‘Paint Splatter’:
The Air Jordan 1 Paint Splatter hit the markets just over a year ago, and it’s not lost any of its appeal! This unique silhouette dons what appears to be an unimaginative base at first glance, but gives way to haphazard paint-detailing and allows it to take centre stage, boasting bright sparks of red, yellow and blue splatter. With an all-white body, a fleshy tone sits atop and truly puts the splatter detailing in the spotlight. Surprisingly, the silhouette chooses to forgo the addition of leather or suede as the lateral swooshes, a signature aspect of any pair of Nike trainers, adopt an aesthetic that is almost reminiscent of graphic design instead.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid Paint Splatter has just passed its first birthday, being released in mid-August 2021. In the run-up to its release, Nike maintained an air of secrecy around the design. Nike only released a few select official images of the colourway, perhaps as a way to build anticipation amongst the sneakerhead community.
But luckily, the popularity of this colourway hasn’t jacked the price up too much! From its £130 price tag on release, a pair of these incredible sneakers will set you back around £150 today, so jump on the opportunity to snag yourself a pair before their rarity rises, and takes the price up with it!
