Nike Releasing an Air Max 90 to Celebrate the Swoosh’s Anniversary

The Swoosh turns 50 this year, and in recognition of the half-century milestone Nike is released a number of brand-new styles that are expected this summer.

Following last week’s Blazer ’77 announcements, hot on their heels is a new take on the Air Max 90 which follows the same concept in paying homage to the trademark Swoosh.

Just like the forthcoming Blazers, this new iteration of the long-standing silhouette features retro branding on the rear, while it also displays varying textures and tones with leather, suede and canvas panelling throughout.

The uppers consist of Sail and tan colour combo, while green on the Air unit and inner tongue makes for a welcome contrast to the earth-like tones found elsewhere.

Other notable details include the insole which nods to the creation of the logo, and the gold, diamond-set Swoosh on the laces which puts the cherry on top of this nostalgia-inducing design.

With half a century passing since a broke, up-and-coming graphic designer was commissioned by Nike co-founder Phil Knight to create the globally-renowned Swoosh, this is a fitting way to celebrate what’s become one of the most recognisable logos on the planet.

Although no official release date has been conformed, we can expect this one to arrive sometime around 18th June, as this was the date the Swoosh was first spotted way back in 1971. As we approach the summer, you can expect Nike to let us know when it’ll land.
