Air Jordan 3 Co.Jp “Japanese Denim”

The Co.JP collection is being revived even further by the team over at Nike as they build on their recent “Metallic Silver” Air Jordan 1 remake of the 2001 classic. There looks set to be several additions to the Co.JP collection between now and the end of the year with the next look switching up the Air Jordan 3 silhouette with a Tokyo twist.

The new look is a take on the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Fire Red” colourway. This look was first designed by the legend Tinker Hatfield. Today’s recreation traverses the Pacific for a more modern look. But how do you help build on a look that has been considered a classic and a firm fan-favourite since its inception?

First off you keep some of those features that make the look a classic in the first place. The toe box and collar may share the most striking resemblance – with elephant printed tumbled leather – to its aged brethren, but new additions need to be made in order to get fans interested.

To do this Nike have introduced a translucent heel and the inclusion of Japanese denim in a clean white. The translucent heel is home to the most notable feature on the new AJ3 “Japanese Denim”; with fire red branding featuring on top of ‘AIR’ and beneath ‘Nike Tick’ as well as an embossed translucent Jumpman logo adorning the heel tab. The same Jumpman can be found on the tongue, this time stitched in a bright red.

The bright red of the “Fire Red” colourway do make a return, this time on the eyestays and collar as well as the branding on tongue and heel. The look is finished with white and black midsoles that includes the Nike Air Max unit, all finished off with a clean white outsole that has features of black and red underfoot.

After a few delays we now expect the new Air Jordan 3 “Japanese Denim” to be landing on August 27th with a price tag of around £150. You can find a pair on the Nike SNKRS app or head online to Laced’s resale market for buy and sell options after drop date.
