Air Jordans Ending 2021 with a Retro of an Iconic OG Colourway

As we wave goodbye to another year and peek the beginnings of 2022 on the horizon, Nike are characteristically busy at work producing showstopping colourways for all of your favourite Nike and Air Jordan silhouettes. Seeing off the end of 2021 in style, Nike have decided to release a revamped version of a truly iconic colourway, and perhaps one of the most instantly recognisable sneakers in history. We’re talking, of course, about the Air Jordan 1 OG Patent Bred. The Patent Bred is a brand-new rerelease of the Air Jordan 1 Bred, better known as the Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’, for its iconic role in Michael Jordan’s clash with the NBA as he launched his sneaker line with Nike.

In 1984, MJ had just released the Air Jordan 1 and was donning the black and red pair on court, in breach of NBA rules regarding sneakers, which had to be mostly pure white. The NBA began to fine MJ $5000 for each appearance he made in the banned sneakers, which Nike gladly paid and geared an entire ad campaign around the sneaker being banned. This led to this ‘Bred’ colourway being renamed the banned colourway and cemented it as one of the most iconic sneakers in history!

Since then, Nike have rereleased plenty of different versions of this famous classic, from the Air Jordan 1 Mid Bred to the Jordan 1 Flyknit Banned, and now they’re ushering in 2022 with an all-new take on the banned colours!

Released on the 30th of December 2021, the Air Jordan 1 High OG Patent Bred brings an all-new glossy finish to the sneaker world-famous design. Featugin an all-glossy black toe cap, mid, eyelets, and collar, with equally shiny red toe box, profile swoosh and heel, this sleek and highly polished design is sure to be an eye-catching addition to any sneaker collection!
