Darth Vader Makes an Appearance in Latest Adidas X Star Wars Collaboration

The Empire’s about to strike back as Darth Vader makes an appearance on the latest edition of adidas’ popular Superstar X Star Wars collaboration.

Following on from previous releases that included the Stormtrooper and the Star Wars B24726 colourways, adidas have given their Superstar silhouette a makeover to pay homage to the Dark Lord just in time for the 40th anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back.

For this particular colourway, adidas have chosen to kick it on the dark side, with an all-black iteration of the fabled silhouette complete with Vader’s image stitched into the tongue and melded onto the front portion of the trainer.

The character-themed shoe comes with black leather uppers and matching toolings, while the Three Stripes branding features a glossy overlay that provides a striking shimmer when it catches the light. Rounding off the colour scheme is an eye-catching scarlet detailing to the heel portion, tongue patch and adidas Superstar branding accents, which is a probable nod to the colour of Vader’s infamous red lightsaber.

If you look closely at the design of the sneaker, you’ll also notice a series of stitches that run against the leather panelling, a clever detail that looks to honour the garment worn by the villain beneath his pieces of armour.

The latest in the series comes hot on the heels of the Star Wars x adidas Top 10 Hi “Boba Fett”, which followed on from the Luke Skywalker Stan Smiths and the Stormtrooper NMD R1s, both released earlier in the year.

The Star Wars x adidas Superstar ‘Darth Vader’ is set for first release on August 29th in Japan at a retail price of 15,400 yen. A general release in select stores around the world will follow soon after. For buy and sell options on new trainers, head over to the Laced.co.uk resale market.
