First Images of the “Paisley” AJ1 Iteration Emerge

Lovers of the AJ1 who are also partial to a bit of paisley are in for a real treat as the iconic silhouette is about to receive an update in the ornamental textile design.

Back in October, a series of leaks began to emerge regarding Jordan Brand’s upcoming spring 2021 schedule. Among the colourways rumoured to be on the way was a pair of paisley-adorned Air Jordan 1s, and we’ve now been treated to some official imagery of the forthcoming standout iteration.

To say it’s not what we expected is putting it mildly. For starters, the Jumpman team have decided to go with the Air Jordan 1 KO for this one, which is an all-canvas version of the infamous model – for those who don’t already know.

Moreover, it had been speculated the pair would feature just a small patch of the pattern, however on every panel you’ll find white paisley motifs, which cover the navy blue uppers the shoe is constructed from.

Down below the Jordan Brand designers keep things simple and to great effect, with a white midsole mated to a black treading which provides that much-needed grip whether you’re on or off the court.

This isn’t the first time Jordan Brand have deployed the majesty of paisley for their footwear. In fact, it isn’t even the first time they’ve used the pattern on the AJ1. Avid sneakerheads will remember a Retro High OG a few years ago, which proved a popular release back then. Whether this new iteration will live up to the hype of its predecessor remains to be seen, but as with most AJ1s these days, if you’re not quick when they go on sale then prepare to be left disappointed!
