When Jordan Brand revealed its schedule for Spring 2021 towards the end of last year, fans of the AJ1 were blown away by some of the upcoming releases. The jam-packed calendar really had us sneakerheads salivating, and despite the fact it was full of amazing heavy-hitting future releases, one or two inclusions still managed to stand out among the others.
Chief among them was the stunning “University Blue” iteration of the Retro High OG, which really caught our attention with its luscious colour combo and nostalgia-inducing design specs. Now, the Jumpman team have decided to kick off the new year in style by officially unveiling the forthcoming colourway, with some shiny new images to boot. We’re happy to report that it looks every bit as magnificent as we’d hoped it would!
Using leather on the entirety of the uppers (save for the the tongue which is made from fabric) the brand new “University Blue” AJ1 uses the same retro colour scheme found on other styles that celebrate UNC (University of North Carolina). The college’s famous blue hue is found on the overlays and outsole, while clean white is present on the shoe’s leather base, as well beneath on the midsole. Midnight black is used on the laces, ankle collar and Nike Swoosh to complete an eye-catching look, rounding off a colourway that’s almost certainly a future classic in the making.
The shoe is scheduled to land on February 20th, 2021, and as ever it’ll go on sale on the official NIKE SNKRS website.
