Yeezy Boost 380 “Onyx” Shows Ye’s Firmly Focused On the Silhouette

Back when the Yeezy Boost 380 silhouette was first designed, it was initially intended to be the natural successor to the 350 V2, however the plan was scrapped, and they chose instead to give the new shoe its very own line.

But while the 380 may have failed to take the V2’s place in terms of design, it seems to be the source of Ye’s focus at present, with new colourways landing on what seems like a weekly basis at the minute.

The latest to be announced is the reflective Yeezy Boost 380 “Onyx”, which is basically the same as the original “Onyx” which was released last year, save from the camo-like pattern on the upper which shines under the light due to its reflective coating.

Elsewhere on the shoe it’s as you were, with a sock-like Primeknit upper boasting the black and white shades, an understated lacing system and the trademark perforated lateral and medial panels that the silhouette is known for.

Down below is also a familiar story with a chunky, semi-translucent brown midsole encasing a full bed of adidas’ Boost technology for a super comfortable fit. The midsole is mated to a sandy-coloured tread, adding some contrast to the predominantly darker uppers and rounding off the colour scheme nicely.

The 380 collection has received a lot of updates of late, with a lot more in the works. While some of them haven’t gone down too well (the “Blue Oat” in particular was derided for its ugly appearance) others such as the “Calcite Glow” and the “LMNTE” have proven popular. The original “Onyx” was well-received, so it’s likely this reflective iteration is taken to as well.

The shoe hits shops on November 26. If you’re interested in copping a pair, then sign up for updates over on the official Yeezy website.
