Nike’s collaboration with NBA superstar Michael Jordan to produce Air Jordan sneakers has defined the sneaker industry for decades. Over this time, Jordan brand have released dozens of silhouettes, and countless colourways across their many designs. Some of their most iconic colourways, like the BRED (black, white, and red), UNC University Blue, and Shattered Backboard orange and black, have seen numerous retros and re-releases over the decades, and have been applied to many Jordan silhouettes!
Now Air Jordan are smashing another incredible re-release with a twist on the iconic Chicago colourway. Usually cited as the most famous and influential OG colourway from the original 1985 release of the Air Jordan 1, the Chicago colourway delivers the quintessential Air Jordan 1 look: red and black on a white base.
Now being released for a new Zoom CMFT (Comfort) edition, the Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT Patent Chicago brings back the iconic look with some incredible new variations. Featuring the famous pure white midsoles and quarter, these sneakers are decorated with bold black across the tongue, toe box, heel counter, and profile swoosh! Meanwhile, that infamous bright Chicago red is splashed across the outsole, toe guard, eyestay, and collar.
The true beauty of this new colourway comes from the materials. Glossy patent leather replaces the Chicago red sections for a shiny, satin-like finish. This contrasts beautifully with the duller, worn-leather style of the black and white, for a distinct and eye-catching finish. The final details are, as always, sublime, with the white Nike Air logo sitting on a bright red label atop the black tongue, finished with pure black laces. Meanwhile, a crisp Air Jordan wings logo is imprinted onto the glossy red collar with incredibly fine black lines.
This colourway certainly delivers some old with some new, a true iconic classic given yet another spin by the incredible team at Jordan brand! If you’re in the market for a new pair of sneaks, keep your eye on the Laced resale market for plenty of Air Jordan mids, Yeezys, and all the best upcoming new sneaker releases!
