The Air Jordan 11 was an odd silhouette in the Air Jordan family. When released, the design was striking in its simplicity, and departed significantly from previous designs. Rather than displaying the balanced, high-contrast blocks found in the designs of the Air Jordan 1 or 3, or the fine detailing of the Air Jordan 4 or 5, the Air Jordan 11 opted for a mostly plain base with a glossy wraparound leather upper. The most common colourway to se the Air Jordan 11 in is the ‘Concord’, which features a pure white body with a shiny black upper, evoking the visuals of an exquisite tuxedo.
Oddly enough though, this design worked and then some! The Air Jordan 11 is one of the most coveted silhouettes in the entire Air Jordans range and is only beaten on hype by the 1 and 3. It also happens to be Michael Jordan’s personal favourite Air Jordan design of all time! The Concord colourway of the Air Jordan 11 was the only sneaker Jordan wore on-court during the entire 1995-96 season!
It wasn’t just the outstanding visuals of the sneaker that made this one MJ’s favourite, it had some ground-breaking tech in there too! A lightweight Phylon midsole with a full-length Nike Max Air unit across the sole provided a supportive but flexible frame while a carbon fibre plate running the entire length of the shoe added a serious strength boost. However, there were a couple of flaws in the design, such as a relative lack of traction, and an unrelenting toe crease!
But how does the Air Jordan 11 fit? In short: true to size! The Air Jordan 11 is one of the few Air Jordan silhouettes that we can’t find a single source telling us to go a size up or down for. All sneakerheads seem to agree, the Air Jordan 11 fits true to size, every time. So, unless you have a particularly odd proportion of foot, you can rest assured knowing that ordering an Air Jordan 11 in your true size should produce a perfect fit!
